And once it does come, we no longer exist.\u201d Epicurus believed that the fear of death robbed humanity of experiencing true happiness.&nbsp; According to Epicurus, if mankind could accept death as the end of being, then we could find happiness in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide\" style=\"grid-template-columns:43% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.celestialsanctumparish.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/epicurus_render-1.jpg?resize=600%2C800&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/celestialsanctumparish.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/epicurus_render-1.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/celestialsanctumparish.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/epicurus_render-1.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>\n\nWell, death does concern us and for good reason. &nbsp;If mankind were to accept death as the end of being, then there would be no purpose to this current existence. It\u2019s like attending a university where no one ever graduates. If a person could take all the required courses, pass every required class, attain a 4.0 GPA and yet the policy is no one will ever graduate, wouldn\u2019t we all be concerned?\n\n<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;In this scenario, not\ngraduating university is the commonality for every student regardless of GPA\njust like death is the commonality for every person living regardless of status\nor achievement(s). In both scenarios, the likely question most of us will ask\nis, \u201cWhat then is the point?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Epicurus will say we do not need to concern ourselves with\nsuch a question. Since graduation will never happen, we will be happier just\ncontinuing taking courses and joining more clubs on campus. But, the truth is\neveryone attends university with hopes of graduating; to use every skill and\nexperience acquired in university to gain employment, live comfortably, and impact\nthe world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life is more than breathing air. It\u2019s because of life we\nknow and experience things like love, family, joy, laughter, food, art, music,\ndancing and so much more.&nbsp; As a result,\ndeath does concern us because again it simply doesn\u2019t make sense to have\nexperienced or tasted these things and then suddenly no more. In that case,\nthen nothing matters. But it does matter and should matter. Just like attending\na university matters, taking courses matter, graduation matters. They matter\nbecause there\u2019s a hope that doing these things will improve the quality of our\nfuture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus said to Martha, \u201c<em>\u2026I am the resurrection and the life: he that believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.<\/em>\u201d \u2013 <strong>John 11:25<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus guaranteed and demonstrated to us that we can\ngraduate. Continuity exists! One that is both eternal and fruitful. The next\nworld will surpass every good thing we have come to love about this current\nworld. It will be an eternity of peace which this world has never been able to\nachieve from the moment it fell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus said, \u201c<em>\u2026In my Father&#8217;s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.<\/em>\u201d \u2013 <strong>John 14:2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>The Father\u2019s house exists in the realm of eternity (timeless), where fullness of joy and pleasures exist (Psalm 16:11).<\/em> <\/p><cite><br><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p> Jesus Christ has made it certain that he wants us to live there with him. The only criteria is that we believe in him <strong>(John 3:16<\/strong>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus makes graduation possible. It\u2019s a process that will take us from death immediately to life. We will live again in HIM and through HIM, if we believe in HIM. And despite our concern of death, the promise of our Lord Jesus Christ makes the Christian happier and bolder because of the great life ahead. Concerning this, the apostle Paul writes, \u201c<em>\u2026For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling<\/em>\u201d \u2013 <strong>II Corinthians 5:2<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Epicurus, the Greek philosopher wrote, \u201cDeath does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is not here.
